Penrice Community College used the services of Sarah Hill to create a commemorative garden for our students, to celebrate the 50th birthday of the school. Sarah used the information gained from the students via the School Council and transferred their thoughts and ideas into a visual plan of the new garden area. Sarah was very effective at translating the students’ ideas into a definitive plan, which in turn transformed a derelict area of the school into an attractive area which is used daily by the students. Sarah’s skill at garden design incorporated the ideas of the students and used local natural resources such as slate and granite to enhance the look of the garden. We live in a grade 11 listed building in the historical fishing port and seaside Town of Looe Cornwall. The house dates back to the 17th century and is of local significance and therefore it is important that the house is maintained in its historical setting for future generations to appreciate. When we purchased the house in 2005 the building structure and appearance had been well maintained by previous owners however, over time the appearance of the garden at the front of the house was not in keeping with the period. We therefore contacted Sarah on the recommendation of a neighbour. Sarah visited the house and designed the garden so that today it is in keeping with its splendid historical glory. Sarah's input was invaluable not only in choosing plants that would thrive in a maritime environment but also blending the modern with the old. We are so pleased with the results - it is an absolute delight both in Summer and in Winter.
